After generating tens of millions of streams with his debut EP Fallen, the Frankfurt-born and Vancouver-based singer, songwriter, and producer continues to chronicle the often-unbelievable seasons of life. Says Taberner, "I started this one around the early stages of my mother’s illness. It was a strange time because while on one hand you knew that the diagnosis was terminal from the beginning, it was easy to compartmentalise as the symptoms hadn’t really begun to infringe on her ability to lead a normal lifestyle yet. We would go out for coffee or dinner and have the most mundane conversations and then the next moment I’d be at home bawling my eyes out knowing that I wouldn’t get to do this for much longer. It’s about this feeling of having an asterisk on any interaction you have due to the fear of what it will be like after, while at the same time trying to give her the reassurance that I’d still be there for every step of the way, even though I’m terrified of what happens after the fact."
