The band combines melodic singing with screams typical of the post-hardcore genre.[1] Although the band is Japanese, all of their songs are written in English. Since its formation in 2007, the band retained the same lineup with no member changes. The lineup consists of lead vocalist Masato Hayakawa, guitarists Ryo Yokochi (Y.K.C.) and Kazuya Sugiyama (Sugi), bassist Ryo Shimizu (RxYxO) and drummer Katsuma Minatani. Hayakawa has a Japanese father and an American mother and speaks both Japanese and English fluently. coldrain is a five-piece rock band formed in Japan, in 2007. In 2008, coldrain released its long-awaited debut single, Fiction. In 2013, they signed with an international record label, and gradually expanded their fanbases by going on European tours and performing at various festivals overseas. In 2022, they released their 7th full album “Nonnegative” and did a huge album tour nationally - including their biggest headline show. In February 2023, they hosted a large-scale rock festival “BLARE FEST. 2023” in their hometown Nagoya, having a number of big domestic and international artists as guests on stage. The event was a great success, having large amounts of audiences attend for two show days. coldrain is continuing to actively perform at several shows and festivals delivering their unstoppable high energy to the rockers.
