The Coral Sea
The Coral Sea is the indie rock project of California singer songwriter Rey Villalobos. The Coral Sea's musical world is vast and exciting, blending the modern sensibilities of neo-psychedelic art-rock with a dash of 70's British glam vibes and beautiful orchestral string arrangements. The sound is thick in atmosphere with a spellbinding brightness that fights against the darkness. The Coral Sea debuted its first album "Volcano and Heart" in 2006, and first single "Look at Her Face" was featured on Greys Anatomy, as well as "Ah Ah Ah" from the sophomore release "Firelight" 2009. In addition The Coral Sea's Pixies cover of "Where is my Mind" was featured on TV show Californication Season 7 soundtrack "Happy Endings". The pastoral, atmospheric vocals of founder Rey Villalobos' luminous, androgynous croon hints at influences such as Radiohead and Elliott Smith without retracing musically traveled ground, reminiscent of Space Oddity-era David Bowie, Yo La Tengo, and Mercury Rev.。
